Would I put on a garage sale myself ─ probably not (although we certainly have more than enough inventory to have a really big garage sale). Checking out local garage sales here in our area is an enjoyable summertime pastime for my husband and me. We learned early on to plan our route by neighborhood, and it pays off in many ways. What you have heard is true: one person’s junk is another person’s treasure. You meet a lot of very nice people and see some areas that you might otherwise not have visited.
This table was set for a Boeuf Bourguignon dinner for our friends. Nearly everything on the table (except candles and hand-painted pumpkins) came from a garage sale purchase. The Guy Buffet plates were an exciting find for me. Each plate is numbered and every one is different ─ six depict a French scene, and the other six show an Italian setting. The seller really wanted me to use them for serving a French dinner ─ so, just consider it done!
It was a really fun evening that we all greatly enjoyed. Dinner was delicious and conversation was lively (even though before that night most of the group knew only my husband and me; they had never before met one another). We are looking forward to our next get-together!
Do try checking out those garage sales, estate sales, flea markets or whatever is available in your area. There definitely are some real “finds” to be found!
Have a delicious day! 😊
